John Emery grew up in the wings of a Beatles tribute band, watching his father bring the world's most beloved songbook to life night after night. Music sank in early — and so did the lesson that a simple song, done right, can make a room full of strangers feel like family.
His own writing carries that inheritance into different territory: the raw, soulful abandon of Martin Sexton, the guitar-forward craft of John Mayer, the pop melodies of Coldplay, and the honest grit of the '90s alternative he came of age on. The result is music that lives somewhere between the coffeehouse and the cathedral — acoustic at its core, and unafraid of the big questions.
He writes from the coast of Maine, where his family has lived for ten generations.
